Benalmadena is situated 20km to the west of Malaga, adjacent to Torremolinos. Over the past twenty years Benalmadena has become one of the key tourism centres on the Costa del Sol.. It is divided into three urban areas: Benalmadena Pueblo, Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmadena Costa.

Benalmadena Pueblo is a typical Andalucian mountain village with narrow streets and geranium-potted windows. It sits at 280 metres above sea level on the side of the Sierra de Mijas and enjoys a much more tranquil existence than its namesake on the coast.

Arroyo de la Miel lies between the pueblo and the coast and is an urban area that grew up around the train station and the main road between Benalmadena and the coast. Here you'll find Tivoli World and the Telecabinas (cable cars).
